Learn About the creator, John Teague

Despite his parents not being natives of Henry County, John proudly claims the title of a native himself, rooted in the heritage of ancestors who settled in Henry County in 1830. Their homestead was established in the Tussahaw District, becoming an integral part of the county's historical tapestry.

Currently serving as the President of the Genealogical Society of Henry and Clayton Counties, John is deeply engaged in preserving and unraveling the history of the region. Collaborating with local genealogists, he contributes to the collective effort of understanding and celebrating the roots that bind the community together. Beyond this, John is a staunch advocate for the historical preservation of local cemeteries and properties, recognizing their significance in safeguarding the essence of the community.

Guided by mentors in the realm of community service, John is driven by a profound commitment to serve. His mission revolves around preserving the rich history of his community and sharing it with newcomers and future generations. By working with local leaders, he aims to cultivate a widespread appreciation for the love of local history, ensuring that the stories and heritage of Henry County endure as a source of inspiration for generations to come.
